Hello! I am a big fan of 16-bit RPGs, and I am currently looking for a new one. I have been setting up a nice old industrial system based around Socket 8, and it runs Zsnes great with lower resolutions in OpenGL mode. However; it is not full speed if I turn the sound and graphics up, so I have to run it at 320x240 with 22Khz sound. Anyway, back on topic, I am looking for good SNES or Sega Genesis RPGs that will keep me occupied for a few hours. I am hoping you have some suggestions.

My favorite 16-bit RPGs

SNES
Star Ocean
Secret of Mana
Seiken Densetsu 3
Earthbound
Terranigma
Lufia 1 and 2
Illusion of Gaia
Soul Blazer
Zelda A Link to the Past
Super Mario RPG
Final Fantasy 4/5/6 (3 is really 6)
Tales of Phantasia
Breath of Fire 1 and 2

Sega Genesis
Beyond Oasis
Phantasy Star 1/2/3

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Did you just leave Chrono Trigger and Phantasy Star 4 off your list as an oversight?

2) Shining Force 1
3) Shining Force 2
4) Landstalker

Oops! That's funny because Chrono Trigger is my all-time favorite game.

it released too late for Europe that is (2009).

I don't recall any SNES trade-in fever in '95.... not for 3DO, not for Jaguar, not for the early PSX titles, and especially not for the Saturn. I was still playing mine with my friends until late '96, around the point where they all got new N64s or Playstations for christmas. It was nowhere near "too late" to enjoy Chrono Trigger.

Soleil (aka Crusaders of Centy) for Sega Genesis is one of my favorites! 😊
Some consider it to be Segas answer of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
To me it is much more interesting than that. It has cute and vibrant graphics, good music and finally a story with a message.
Not the ususal "save the princess, rescue the kingdom".

You should consider looking at PS1 and PS2 if you run out of SNES and SEGA JRPGs. I know they are 32bit consoles but they have lots of good JRPGs also the PSP and VIta.

Nintendo lost most of RPG market after the SNES to Sony.

I perfectly agree.
I would add Soleil and Lightcrusader.
Landstalker is my all times favorite on the Megadrive... A rock solid RPG.
