As you all know the polling system is broken at the moment. So please put a answer here.

Does DOSBox need a wiki system. ?

I personally think it's neat. I've converted the newbie's guide to wiki format (somewhere) and with wiki everybody could change it if they think it's unclear or whatever.

I think that's a good plan!

Very, VERY, good idea! I have absolutely NO experience with how difficult, or how much time it takes to manage a wiki-site, but I imagine that SOME intervention is required to keep some structure to it all?

It will be interesting to see how fast the information will trickly in, and how much posters here participate.

Try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

The beauty - and the danger - of a Wiki system is that it is normally the users themselves that provides, edits, and updates all the information.

If you think it's neat, then you should do it. You can always remove it if it turns out to be a complete disaster.

To my opinion, it can be great! I solved some problems on some software (spamassassin for example) with help from great FAQs based on the wiki system

And the wikipedia is quite interesting now, especially for terms hard to find in a standard encyclopedia (I don't think there's an entry for Megatokyo in Universalis :p )

It would be awful.

It's against human nature. There are too many nerds who will delete information or post hardcore porn picture in the DOSBox site just for the sake of it.

I think that can not be avoided. There will always be ways to harm a project.
A wiki system will be there.

It's empty 😀 I've converted some documentens allready but haven't had the time to put them there.

As long as it won't replace the main DOSBox site, fine with me.
But I don't like wiki one bit...

FWIW, I have wiki-edited the front page at http://dosbox.sf.net/wiki/ . It shows some of the formatting constructs, and how to link to internal and external documents/sites. I also did a cut-and-paste of the emulated sound hardware, and linked it to the front page.

Hmm I see it has history option and all, maybe it's not so bad after all 😮

I take back what I said earlier 😀 it's really good (as long as it doesn't replace the main site)

I'll add my LBA DOSBox guide when the WIKI site develops a bit 😀

For everyone that contributes to the Wiki-page:

Should we use this thread to discuss ideas and suggestion for the Wiki page? Or would it be better to have an un-linked page (so it does not show up during normal use)?

dunno. Some communication might indeed be handy.
as some people do and undo eachother changes.

I think a page linked at the frontpage(wiki) will do. (at the bottom)

As not everybody reads this forum.

Or a thread there with a link at in in the wiki.

I've added a link in the footer to the DOSBox Wiki-writers guild. Let us see if it works for us.
