I have actually just visited it from a new installation of Windows 98 SE that I just completed on the following machine:

Celeron 300A
Abit BH6
256MB sdram
6GB microdrive
Sony cdrom
YMF719 sound (ISA)
3c905c NIC connected to a wifi bridge
NEC chipset PCI USB 2.0 4-port card
Voodoo5-5500 AGP 😀

I wish I could have posted from it, but IE5.5 didn't show post buttons even after I logged in.

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O

Hmm, use Firefox 2.0; works perfect for me on VOGONS!

World's foremost 486 enjoyer.

Oldest one I've actually done it on would be a Fujitsu Stylistic LT C500 tablet from ~2001 or so. Mobile Celeron 500MHz, 256MB RAM, don't remember the hard drive size, running WinXP & a Linksys G-Wireless PC card. It's also the oldest machine on which I've been able to (Just barely) watch YouTube videos with no major issues, as recently as earlier this year, of course it chokes on anything higher than 360p.

None of my older machines currently have the ability to connect to the internet, otherwise the oldest one I could conceivably try it on is my Dream 486 rebuild (DX4-100, 16MB RAM, 810MB HDD, Win95 original) provided I found a compatible browser & NIC to stick into it (Which I actually don't wish to do, as that would make it no longer "childhood accurate").

Heh I have a C500 kicking around somewhere too.

The oldest I've browsed the web with was a Panasonic Sr. Partner terminal'd into a Linux laptop using Links, but that's kinda cheating I suppose (I tried a Xircom parallel adapter but had trouble getting it to work at the time).

More usefully I think was Opera 3.62 on WFW3.11 on my Presario 433 (upgraded to a POD83).

I'm posting this from a 300Mhz Pentium with a Voodoo 2 in it running RetroZilla 2.0.

Let's try this experiment 😀

I'm trying to write this on my 486 dx2 66 with 32 mb ram Firefox 1.0

Explorer 5 has very big problems with java, mostly all sites are loaded with errors so is Vogons, i can only read posts

Firefox 1 is REALLY slow. 1-2 minutes loading time, all the buttons are on the right place. Another minute too load all posts on the page.

I'm writing this in Firefox hoping for the best! And now... submit!

A Celeron 633 MHz with 96 MB RAM (128 MB minus 32 MB for video), Windows XP SP3.
Had to install Firefox 3.6 on it because all recent Firefox versions are way too heavy for these specs.

I'm currently writting this on a PIII 1.0 GHz with Windows Me, 512 MB RAM and Firefox 2.0.0.20. VOGONS is the only site I know that works perfectly with older browsers apparently.

PS: First post

Main: Asus B460M-A | i3-10105 | 24G RAM | 1TB M.2 + 1TB HDD + 256G SSD | Linux64
"Time-machine": Asrock 775i65GV | P4 HT 3.4 GHz | 2G RAM | 80G HDD | Win98 + XP + Linux64
Oldest: ECS P6STP-FL | Celeron 633 | 128M RAM | 40G HDD | NT4 + XP

it might have been my Compaq 486 DX2, running win95 and IE 4.0, but I can't remember if it loaded the site properly; more recently the PII 400 running Opera on win98 I think.

The oldest computer i went on Vogons with would be my Dell Dimension XPS T450, 768MB of RAM 500MHz Pentium 3 120GB HDD, Win98SE and Firefox 10.0.

How did you get USB working on win98, what brand and driver did you use?
