What about a No-CD patch?

That's for SafeDisc.

It's for any copy protection that relies on that driver. I'm guessing Starforce does in some way (Securom certainly does) since that's the only Windows update I can remember that messes with DRM.
Alternatively, he might just have to update Starforce drivers:
http://www.star-force.com/support/users/windows7/
Or just the game itself (some games eventually patched out Starforce).
It could also be that he has the wrong cause, if he thinks it's because of Starforce he really should say why he came to that conclusion.

I tried that link before. The update program says it finds nothing to update. Windows is also blocking install of the driver by the game.

Unfortunately that also relies on Starforce.

This is exactly how I fixed Flatout, but Trackmania Sunrise is still broken.
Google for Trackmania Sunrise + Win7 gives this:

This is the original tutorial I followed to get it working for the first time on Win7! I didn't remember there were some steps I missed. Thanks a lot! Now it works.
Isn't all the content from Sunrise etc in Trackmania United Forever anyway?
play-old-pc-games.com
I run TM Sunrise and TM Original on Windows XP, too bad there never has been a good crack for TM Original.

As far as I can tell there are a lot of differences, in TM United the exotic car handles worse with a lot more drift than in TM Sunrise and also has repeating annoying music compared to TM Sunrise, also most tracks seem different as well.

Cannot agree more.
Isn't Starforce essentially malware though?

All DRM is malware. It's only meant to harm you and benefit publishers.
Nonsense, Denuvo is not DRM, its "anti-tamper" </sarcasm>
