First of all, yes, it still calls up Windows Help, so the keyboard isn't defective. In several programs, most notably DOSBox, SNES9X, VisualBoy Advance, and several others, F1 doesn't work. At all. It isn't recognized, I can hold the key down all day and nothin' will happen. This is really, REALLY weird, since I know that the driver's don't do squat for my keyboard, an old Sony VAIO pack-in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You do not have one of those fancy, new-fangled keyboard where F1 is bound to something like New Document? Do you have a key labelled something like F-Lock?

As I've said, I have an OLD, OLD keyboard, like 10 years. And no, I don't have said key. I've also tried re-installing the basic hardware drivers, which did nothing, and have done a thurough (sp?) virus sweep which brought up nada.

Holy... OK, I think this goes a wee bit beyong DosBOX. I just ran PC-Doctor, which I didn't even know I had, and even IT doesn't recognize that the F1 key is working. But it still brings up Windows Help when I hit it without another program selected.

Hey, that sounds like a Gateway computer.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Nope, built this puppy with my own two hands. I just don't try too hard to protect it, ya know?

And I fixed it. Fiddled with some settings and deleted some things and BAM, fixed it. A mod can delete this.
