What additional features did OPL4 soundcards offer over OPL3 ones? For example, was the sound quality better, and/or did the OPL4 soundcards offer more realistic-sounding instruments? Also did OPL4 ever catch on the same way OPL3 did?

It is backwards compatible and adds wavetable synthesis (or just playback of PCM samples).
