Cool! This system would be able to run the DOS version of the 7-Zip benchmark because it only has 64MB ram. The benchmark in this thread uses a 32MB dictionary size in 7-Zip, which needs 512MB; the DOS version uses a 256KB dictionary size, which only requires 8MB RAM.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

P54C! That Aptiva might make a great DOS time machine. What's the onboard sound chipset?

It had this "Mwave" combination modem/soundcard, which I immediately replaced with an AWE64.

Here are my benches running 7-zip 9.2 on my current rig with HT disabled and enabled.

Ran these before a post-1607 cumulative update bricked my OS install. Good going, MS. Love how it bricked the fresh 1607 install as well. Running on good old 1511 now.

These newer Atoms aren't bad all! This Surface 3 doesn't even have a fan, yet it outperforms a 4.26GHz PEE 840, C2D E8600, and even a first-gen i3-370M.

Added result for Athlon 64 3500+ AM2 Lima core with DDR2-800. No OS on the system so I ran from linux live USB 64-bit.

Long time i haven't came here, i added results from another custom Pentium III 1 GHz system using a Biostar M6VCG (VIA 694X+686A), aparently it scored poor compared to my Dell Optiplex GX150 (i815E+ICH2) i used for my previouws P3 results, idk if it was the VIA chipset or just the board is not good, i'll try again once i get a better VIA based board.

OS was XP in both machines (my Optiplex GX150 and this current build with the Biostar M6VCG)

Added results from an i7 7500U (Kaby Lake) and an AMD A10-9700 (Bristol RIdge), also added an old Core 2 Duo T5500, aparently, the new Bistol Ridge APU outperformed the FX4300 on this test when the newer i7 7500U outscores anything U and even some desktop i3s

I was browsing the forum while I was benchmarking three single ppro 200mhz with 256, 512 and 1024kb of l2 when I stumbled on that threat so I decided to add 7zip to my battery of tests. I beleive my number make sense with luckybob dual ppro overdrive running nt. I use win98se and 32bit zip 9.20. You could add those number to the spreadsheet because I wont do it, I'm just too lazy and afraid to break your chart... I left everything on default and just run 2 pass.

I've got some plans in the works for my Skulltrail board. Stay tuned for some hilarity coming soonish.

Yeah, 7-zip is sort of a best case for the Atom because it can use all 4 cores.

It looks like you are reporting the individual MIPS ratings for Compress and Decompress, rather than the overall result. Not sure I can use those in the chart. 🙁

I left it out because it was just exactly the same, use them or dont, I could not care less. but trust me, the final result are the same, I left one computer run for an hour as I forget it and it was .... the same ! 😵

Added Pentium III 733MHz, SiS 630 ECS motherboard. It's a lot quicker than the VIA C3 1.2GHz "nehemiah" chip that I just replaced in the system.
