Hi guys

I picked up this graphics card, but i have no idea what it is. It says AGP9700TVP, but its definately not a Radeon 9700 since its using a quad flat pack GPU mounting and its got a socketed BIOS, so its much more old school. I havent been able to fire it up since its an AGP 1x/2x card, i havent got a system setup with a 1x/2x board. Googling the part numbers and such comes up with nothing.

Any clues what it might be ? Kinda looks like a matrox but not sure at all.

FCCID gives us a manufacturer: DFI, Inc.
Using that, I googled "DFI AGP9700" and came up with this page:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-video&m=93326272828458
someone who owns this card says it's based on the Trident 3D Image 9750.

edit: removed bad link. FCC ID search page: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid
Use Grantee Code: E5Y Product Code: AGP9700

What does it show up as in DOS / Windows? What's under the heatsink?

I havent started it up yet, i didnt have a running computer with a 3.3V AGP slot at the moment.

The heatsink is attached pretty solid, i dont want to risk damaging the card since these QFP mounted chips are quite fragile.

At least it looks similar: http://retronn.de/imports/hwgal/hw_trident_3dimage_9750.html

If you test it be sure to use a CRT as my 9750er didn't showed an image when a TFT was attached.

It also appears to be a 8MB SGRAM variant, which is odd cause theres nothing i can find about a 9750 with this spec.

A bit down this page is a card similar to the one you got: http://www.yjfy.com/museum/video/Trident.htm

Doesn't reveal more information, but it's listed together with other Trident cards.

Edit: It's the only Trident card on that page with a heatsink, so prepare to be blown away by it's performance... 😜

No, it's 4MB made up of four 8Mbit chips.

Ah okay I must have read the spec sheets wrong for those modules. Thanks.

I found these links.

DFI AGP-9800 with similar (but not exactly same) layout and with either 2MB or 4MB. Comes with Trident 3DImage 9850
and
DFI AGP 9710 with a different layout, but looks to be the same age and comes with Trident 3DImage 9750 and also either 2MB or 4MB.

Both come with SGRAM.
