It's an ESS Allegro chipset, so it's ESS' PCI sound technology. Although it doesn't provide true ESFM like a Solo-1 does, Iit should use the same sideband technologies and therefore be quite compatible with DOS -- much more so than a SB PCI/Live card.

That site does have a Solo-1 card for a decent price as well.

Oh nice, I heard from somewhere that ESS chips were great for DOS.

I guess the question might be, is this better then my SB Live Value?

Awesome. How does it compare to a ISA SB16? The mobo has the SB-Link (?) jumper on it.
