Hi

Death rally works ok (except loading screen are really slow), but the scrolling is not smooth. Ive set cpu cycles properly (= a lot, dynamic core, cpu is bellow 100% all the time).
I tried vsync but it doesnt help.

On xp sp2, amd64 3200.

What version of DOSBox are you using? If you're using older than 0.63 then try that. If you're using 0.63 then try a CVS build.

its with latest d3d cvs, i will try with official 0.63

Yeah, probably best to use plain CVS or 0.63 to start with, in case some of gulikoza's experimental additions to his d3d build are slowing you down.

It seems to me its a bit better but still, its far less smooth then in vdm sound.
(i went up to 50.000 cycles and cpu usage was still under 100%, and scrolling was still not smooth).

Of course it is slower than vdmsound, what did you expect? (Search the forum for "emulator" or "speed", this has been explained countless times)

I think it's jerky scrolling and not bad speed that he's reporting.

I just tried again in VDMsound, and its indeed very smooth.
I would like to try again with dosbox, with vsync enabled (even though other games like "supercars" have no scrolling problem, so musnt be that).
Dos games refresh rate was 70khz right ?

To be more precise about stutterings, its like there are sudden accelerations, especially when the car goes up or down (its most okay when left or right, on the track), so i would say it indeed sounds like a vsync thing (but then, again, why does Supercars work flawlessly ?)
