I have a USB-to-PS/2 adapter for my PS/2 keyboard but it keeps falling out of the dongle. I've also had similar problems of PS/2 connectors falling out of the back of a KVM because of a loose connection.

What can be done about these loose fit connectors?

I have had good luck with taking a small stick pin and inserting it into the sockets to squeeze the two sections closer together in order to make a tighter fit. YMMV.

If the truth hurts, tough shit.

That tape looks pretty cool. I didn't want to use duct tape because of the residue. Can anyone speak for gaffer tape being safe for that mess?

Try heatshrink instead of tape for the dongle.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Real PS/2 connectors should be made with knob and tube wiring!

I would go with magnets.

Too easy? In that case, find a knot that pulls two ends together and go from there.

Neat idea, but what happens when you want to unplug it?

If you want to unplug the keyboard from the machine, you unplug it. If you want to unplug the dongle from the keyboard, which likely isn't very often, you nick the heatshrink where there's slack and peel it off. That's why you don't use adhesive heatshrink by the way.

Probably your best bet. Try to fix the connection itself first. If that doesn't work, then find alternatives.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.
