I hope you have read the docs, did you?

Try increasing cycles and/or frameskipping.

I can somehow play it using 30.000 cycles, frameskip 3, dynamic core.

Ronald

Frameskip 3 😮 Isn't that like 7-9 FPS?

Last time I divided 70fps by 4 it gave like 17.5 or so. Maybe that's changed, though, 'cause I didn't check lately :p

I was doing the math different:
Frameskip 0 = 70FPS
Frameskip 1 = 35FPS
Frameskip 2 = 17.5 FPS
Frameskip 3 = 8.75 FPS

But I guess it should be:
Frameskip 0 = 70 FPS
Frameskip 1 = 35 FPS
Frameskip 2 = 23.3 FPS
Frameskip 3 = 17.5 FPS

I guess anything above 15 FPS would be bearable for non-action-intensive games.

If you can live with a sluggish mouse, even frameskip beyond 10 (around 5 fps) works OK for non-action games (used that on my old 300MHz laptop... better than nothing, IMHO). Going any lower than ~5fps didn't really improve speed anymore, so that's the ultimate limit.

Wait a year or so until ScummVM support Discworld 1&2 😁

The game is from 1997 so a fairly powerful computer is required to play it with DOSBox.
