Recently got an aopen ax59pro with a k6-ii/450 cpu and a iic radeon card. When it arrived i placed it on an atx case and installed windows, it went fine but was getting some blue screens so i decided to change ram and also got a better hard drive and also found my old geforce 256 and 2 ultra so decided to install a fresh copy of windows.
That's where the issues started, running from the bootdisk if i try to rup setup from the cd 8 out of 10 times nothing would happen and it just froze after typing setup, the 2 times it would work well at first i was more worried about figuring out what was wrong so i didnd't attempt an install.
Tried swapping everything old back in again and still the same, sometimes it would start the setup like 3 times in a row and give me some hope just to go down the drain again.
So yesterday i created a ME bootdisk since i was getting nowhere and also disabled udma on the bios for primary and second ide channels and got it to run, it installed all the way fine, booted fine then i installed the via 4in1 drivers and reenabled udma on the bios then it worked alright for another 6 reboots or so.
Then i installed w98se sp3 and now it's back to not booting 🙁, doesn't even get to the splash screen, i already swapped pretty much everything i could think of including the PSU, ide cables etc. Could it be the cpu that is bad? That's the one thing i didn't check yet.
Also the same thing happens with hiren's bootcd for example, it doesn't always get to the menu, but will like 8/10 times, it's just such a random issue that i'm not sure what to do besides replacing the cpu and see if that's the issue.
Also from the floppy it always boots up the w98 bootdisk fine same with ME, issues come from trying to run windows setup, and the blue screen i was getting at the start which made me swap ram: Err Msg: Fatal Exception 0e 0028:c004df6c in Vxd Vcache 293299
Thanks in advance
