I speak of stuff like this:

https://ia800401.us.archive.org/4/items/SSI_C … Simulations.pdf
https://archive.org/details/Sierra_Catalog_19 … _Sierra-On_Line

I'm largely looking for PC (IBM compatible, my area of expertise) from 1980 to the early 2000's. I'm going to compile a list of sources for them and it seems that what the archive has is limited mostly to Sierra and SSI. No Interplay, EA, Infogrames, etc. I'll post the list here once it's compiled.

I will take a look but IIRC there content is already mirrored on the internet archive.

Why can't you use MobyGames? You can filter by platform and year. It is fairly complete.

That's not the point. The point is artwork, and ads, and history, and preserving it all, and making it all accesible from one location.

Yes that one location is called mobygames.com. Catalogues are only going to give you lists, maybe an ad here and there. Mobygames already has things like game box covers, trivia, reviews, screenshots, system requirements etc.

I guess I am a bit confused as what you are trying to achieve that mobygames does not already have? If you mean to purely gather any and all game catalogues then yes, I don't think this has been done in a public way, and it could be useful.

Yep that's the idea. But it doesn't look like in going to get the community backing needed for such an undertaking.

Don't get me wrong, any effort you put into finding more information about the games is welcome! Unfortunately, back to the point, I do not know of any archives, however if I find anything, I will mention it here to be of help to you.

Your huge wall of text will likely be the base for my main list. Damn fine work, thank you

🤣 kudos for pulling all the links out! Looks like there are some interesting brochures in there 😎

Sort of remember a scanned games/PC magazine thread here on vogons, maybe they could be combined into a sticky?

Id like a mods input before we cross over into magazine territory. IMO that can become copy right infringement pretty quick and that's frowned upon here.

You're welcome. I see something like that and I end up obsessing about it. 🤣

I'm probably going to compile everything into a database that way it can be sorted by year and company.

Project on hold due to new job. If you guys want to continue posting new links/scans go ahead and I will add them to my DB sometime next year once the busy season of my job is over.
