The excellent Wiki says:

This Z: Drive can be largely hidden with some creative modifications to the AUTOEXEC.BAT for a more complete emulation of MS-DOS.

But it doesn't say what those creative modifications might be. I can see that I should copy COMMAND.COM and maybe a few other things to emulated drive C:, and SET COMSPEC=C:\COMMAND.COM, but I don't see any hint of what to do to hide drive Z: from (for example) the Windows 3.1 File Manager. Is there a way?

It isn't, unfortunately. I also tried the LASTDRV program here:

LASTDRIVE help

Drive Z: was still visible. I can certainly live with this, but I thought it might be useful to prevent users from trying to copy things to Z:....

True, I see my suggestion written above would work as fake command only, written in the AUTOEXEC section.
