But anyway, since the CE on the Tandy card is generated only on the address, it certainly isn't 'always on', and so we know it doesn't affect the oscillators.

There ya go. Therefore, all you need is the eight bit counter (with a carry out) and a tri state buffer to implement power on attenuation. Maybe a utility hex inverter to properly trigger the pin for hi Z state.

The ultimate ISA sound card... OPL3, CMS, SN76489, MPU-401, wavetable header and joystick...? 😀

Looks awesome, Serdaco!

But maybe make the potentiometer portrude to the side instead of behind so the case-design would be easier and more conform 😉 Or is it too late for that at this stage?

nothing is too late
it is pointing to the rear instead of to the side, to avoid possible collision with other cables
this is revision A, revision B already ordered with some fixes. (but both can work)

Is there not some suitable potentiometer that could be used instead that has proper mounting? That really was my one and only real complaint with the OPL2LPT was having to bend it up and have it just free-standing a few mm off the board. It'd be nice if there was one that was designed to be 90 degree mounted to the board.

how about an edge wheel pot for TNDLPT
this would be a nice match for a 3d printed enclosure

I don't see the need for the OPL3 in there, unless a Crystal 4232 is included for SB Pro compatibility, which would require the CMS to be in a diferent address BTW. OPL2/OPL3 cards are plentiful.

I would rather have a "chiptune" card, including Tandy, Innovation SSI-2001, Covox Sound Master and CMS/Game Blaster. This could be a nice card for homebrew MS-DOS games, which would have support for all these + OPL3 SB.

My Testing Setup is a Sanyo 386SX Notebook Computer (NB18) i'm currently repairing.

- 386SX 20Mhz with 387SX 20Mhz
- 1Mb RAM
- CirrusLogic VGA
- QEMM 7 running on MS-DOS 5.0

A TSR is required .

i tested Eye of Beholder and F19.

Eye of Beholder is just fine 😀

F19 has some issues ?, maybe CPU too slow ?
http://www.vartaleaks.com/tandylpt/f19.mp4

Sorry for bad recording, i just used my Trusty old Motorla Smartphone 😀

EMM386. conflict with dma controller ?

- Monkey Island 1 (monkey.exe v ts) (EGA/HGC/VGA/CGA Version) does not work, no sound at all.
- Prince of Persia (prince.exe /tandy) (does not work, maybe bios check)
- Simcity (simcity /st) does not work, Checks BIOS for Tandy)
- Windwalker (wind.exe ts) resets tandy chip to power on default, sound is played on pc-speaker (works on lo-tech tandy board clone)
- F-19 (does not work) (works on lo-tech tandy board clone)
- Eye of Beholder ( does not work)
- Bad Blood (No Sound)
- Populus 1 (Bullfrog) (populus.exe Vga Tandy Sound) - No sound

QEMM 7.04:
- F-19 (slightly disorted sound, maybe due to slow CPU) (works on lo-tech tandy board clone) - partial
- Eye of Beholder - works
- Simcity - don't work - BIOS Check
- Prince of Persia - don't work - Machine Check/BIOS Check.
- Monkey Island - works
- Windwalker - don't work (works on lo-tech tandy sound clone), popping noise, plays on pc-speaker instead.
- Badblood partial, sound seems sometime out of tune (works on tandy sound board clone)
- Populus 1 - works
