In the very slow process of building a dos retro pc like many of us here 😉

With time constraints, work and family it can be difficult to spend time on these projects.

Finally got around to installing the WfW3.11 drivers for the above card. Instructions not a problem.

Just needed a sounding board to confirm my suspicions that these 4Mb cards are unable to display high resolutions at 16M colours without some limitations?

What I mean is that upon selecting 1024 x 768 @ 16M colours and loading WfW3.11 it gives the error “not enough memory to convert all the program icons...

When 65k colours selected no issue 😀

Am I right with my suspicion?

Cheers and thank you for looking at my thread.

found this:

So basicly that res. should use about 2360kb and therefor 4096kb should be more than enough?

Thank you so much for the info. Looks like maybe 4Mb kind of hits a limit.

Nearly all the icons appear correctly, however say 5-10% just show a black icon.

Cheers 😀

Probably would be okay if most were minimised, rather than all folders open showing all icons 😀

Thank you for the link.

Between that link and the above information, it all makes sense now 😀

If I break the Awe64 folder into two it should fix it.

Will test and report back 😀

Cheers and thank you both

It worked 😀

Splitting the audio software program group into two and then setting back to 16M colours at 1024 x 768 worked perfectly.

Thank you again 😀
