sorry a bit off-topic.

I have to uncheck fog in Turok1 and Turok2 otherwise I get extreme slowdowns with my R7000-PCI.
Installing the RageTweak 3.9 and checking the "Table Fog" there does not help. Any ideas?

which driver are you using? maybe using a date-aproppiate driver will solve things

The last driver available (6.2). These massive framedrops are also when using a glidewrapper (dgvoodoo) and playing titles like "ignition"
The game is super-smooth and fast but if fog-features are used the framerate drops near zero.

Should try a driver more close to the year the game launched, is common that when newer cards are launched, the drivers are more optimized towars newer hardware

Mostly I read that ATI-drivers were bad if the card is new, so I went for the newest supported driver.
I will checkout an early one 4.x instead.

Tripple-Boot:
- Dos/Win1x/2x/3x/Gem/Geos (still need to patch the win3x vesa-driver for 256colors)
- Win98se DX8.1
- Win2000 DX9

The R7000 is a card that has all important modes centered on analog vga on the tft. (VGA-Text/EGA-gfx/VGA-gfx).
The card is quiet and has a very clean and sharp output. S3tc does work out-of-the-box on ut436 (with hirestextures).

The R7000-Techdemo works, but freezes after a short while. Regardingless it looks like the card has some sort of
pixelshader (reflections on the floor) but none other game can use them, but I am not shure about this.

I have checked out a lot of cards and this r7000 was the best so far.

everything looks fine, the thing that's suspicious is the techdemo freezing

do you have any way to measure the heat in the card? other than touching it

It's a driver issue. With Win98se it freezes even if a big fan is mounted on the cooler so the gfx-card stays cold.
In win2000 it works better but the framerates are low. The res is to high for that gfx.

still, it should not freeze up. to me everything is because of a driver issue, try downloading the first available driver for that card in each OS and see if it's an improvement, if you can't find it, tell me and i help you in the task

Yeah the Radeon 7000 is a cut down Radeon DDR..
hold back by 64bit memory bus..

The Radeon DDR is superior to it.

Can't confirm any slow downs, just a slight fps drop.
Using Radeon DDR.

I also own a 7000 PCI, so i can test it if you like.
I simply would drop in a Rage 128 Card if you like Table Fog.
It looks better on Rage.

Please do some testing. I checked out the Cat 4.2 and 6.2 it's the same. Other games perform really good with that card. (Kingpin, UT99, etc.) S3tc looks really good on R7000.

Turok1: D3D
- First massive framedrop is at the end of the Logo Animation.
- Second is after the menu is visable and the statusbar (highlight of the menu) is "pulsing" => look at the background.
- If i disable "fog" the framedrops are gone and the game is ugly.

I discovered only turok1/2 to be problematic. (And of cause glide-emulation with dgvoodoo).

that's weird, i thought that the radeon series had table fog emulation, you may be looking for some card that has support for that in order to play it
by the way, nice collection, althrough i can't load the pictures in full detail, my internet is going slow lately.

is that, or using a nvidia card, also you can use a 3dfx, i think a savage 4 also works, you may need to do testing
i have some cards, but all the games i have doesn't use palletized textures nor table fog, so i can't help you more
