Jetway J-656C Intel 430FX (available from 1996, similar mainboards from 1996 q1).

i wanted a pc before the "classical" vx/hx age - with the first really good intel chipset, the 430fx triton. that was the only board what i found with real battery. it is not too fancy, but more practical. this revision of the board is a little bit newer, but with pb cache, the async cache was more typical at the fx boards (but it is still authentic in 1996 q1).

Intel Pentium 133 SY022 (available from 06.1995.)

the pentium 166 was also available in 1996 q1, but less typical - and for me it is more a "430hx" cpu.

Socket 5 cooler

typical mid 90s color 😀

16m would be a little bit more typical, but still authentic

Diamond Stealth 64 Video 2001 2M PCI S3 Trio64V+ (available from 01.1996.)

the trio64v+ was new in the end of the 1995, later extremly popular on very cheap cards. just a mainstream card, but the most compatible and probably the fastest from 1996 q1. there is an extra connector.

Creative Sound Blaster AWE32 CT3910 rev 01 ISA DSP4.13, CT1747 OPL3 (available from 02.1995.)

value awe32 with opl3, but no memory slots (for dos is useless - i use msdos 6.22 for this computer)

I am also really into the early Pentiums. By the time the VX, HX and TX came out the Pentium had kid of lost its lustre because the price had dropped to the point where basically anyone could have one. At some point I want to do a socket 5 system as well, but it'll probably be based on Neptune.
Pipelined burst cache is totally legit on an FX. I am pretty sure it was available from day one, at least I remember it that way from the PCmag reviews.

i know, i always check the ages. the earliest 430fx boards in 1995 (like asus, and the intel zappa) came with wb cache, than end of the 95 / begin of the 96 released the pb revisions (before the hx/vx). i wanted an intel zappa, it also comes with normal battery, and it is a real socket 5 mobo. just a couple of late revisions support the p133 (mostly p75-120), it is rare now.

finally! the intel advanced/zp (zappa) - with wb cache and socket 5. one of the first triton.

I also had this mainboard in 1995 (installed in a Vobis Highscreen Pentium 90) but without a L2 cache...

Intel Advanced/ATX (Thor), one of the only ATX form factor 430FX boards that i have seen. the ATX socket 7 boards that i have usually seen have I430HX, VX, TX, and others like ALi, VIA, SiS, etc. chipsets, mine has the MR. BIOS flashed onto it, i was testing it on my chair cause i had nowhere else to do it on, i just ordered it and i was testing it which is what i do when i get a motherboard, i later used my broken ATX case as a test bench setup
