Hi all,

I've found a source of old ISA cards at pretty good prices and was wondering which i'm best to go for? I've searched for the majority of them on here and i think i'm best off with the CT2230?

Just wondering if anyone has any input / thoughts / advice? I'm just playing the odd dos game on an old Pentium 2 233.

I have a CT2230 and I consider it a decent card, not much noise. It does have the hanging note bug, it may matter to you or not depending on what you plan to do with it. I also have a CT1740, that one's noisier but if you can find one with DSP revision 4.05 it will not have the above bug. CT2940 - Creative sold several different cards under this model number. If you find one with a real OPL3 chip that would be a good one also.
I think the 2770 is a cut-down version of the 2230 without the wavetable header. I never had one of those.

Correct, and that's what is used in the CT2230 and CT2770 I mentioned above. It has "OPL" written on it.

CT2230 has the type-2 hanging note bug: https://www.vogonswiki.com/index.php/Hanging_note_bug

So it's not really that much of a problem. Type-1 is the really bad one that most people talk about. I've heard Type-2 is pretty rare to trigger.

Old precedes antique.
