I've been lurking here for awhile, but I finally decided to register today.
I posted this to reddit awhile back, but I think it will be a bit more appreciated here.

I'd like to introduce you all to my ongoing project:

Fair use/fair dealing exception

This all started off when a customer brought in a near-pristine Thermaltake Xaser III case into the recycling center I work at. I bought that sucker up immediately and fell in love with the case. As a bonus, it included illuminated SATA cables!

And so, the lightshow was born. I have been scouring various junk bins and ebay listings in an effort to find some of the craziest/weirdest light-up components that I can cram into a computer. RGB lighting is forbidden and the goal was to stick to parts pre-2009. I'm still looking for one more stick of the XMS2 XPERT ram, but one will show up eventually.

As for use, this machine runs XP. It's pretty overkill for XP, but hey, at least it can run Crysis.

System specs:
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 @ 3.46GHz w/ Intel extreme stock cooler installed.
EVGA 750i SLI FTW Motherboard
4GB DDR2 (4x1GB. 2x crucial ballistix tracer, 1x corsair xms2 pro, 1x corsair xms2 xpert w/ display module)
2x Nvidia GeForce 8800 ULTRA in SLI
Seasonic 750W PSU
160GB WD Raptor X 10000RPM hard drive
Creative Sound Blaster Xi-Fi Fata1ity PCI
2x 80mm cooljag everflow programmable LED fans
1x 92mm thermaltake UFO case fan (not pictured, but adds strobe lights to case)
Green LED illuminated computer case feet (yes these exist for some reason)
2x illuminated SATA cables
1x illuminated IDE cable

Overkill? nah! something this show-y needs all the games maxing out as well.
its a nice build even without the light show. The not subtle and complete mix mash of colours does make it very 2000's though when more = better
