Perhaps this belongs on the ROGOQOS (Rather Old Game On Quite Old System) site but there you go.
I recently reinstalled POD which is a game I played a lot years ago. I have Voodoo2 SLI so I installed the 3dfx patch and, since the game wouldn't run without it on this system, the "ForceFeedback" patch from-

I have got the game running beautifully at 800x600 using the tweak on that site. I found that to get forcefeedback to work successfully I had to install the 3dfx patch, then the FF patch and then the 3dfx patch again. Any other combo results in the game locking up on starting or else the FF not working.
My problem is that although the game works perfectly with any of my gameport joysticks it will only run once successfully with working forcefeedback with my MS SideWinder FF Wheel (which is USB). It will then lock up on trying to subsequently start the game until I reinstall both of the patches!
I realise the game was written before USB even existed but surely the game ought to be using the DirectX API and shouldn't even "see" the USB (I know this isn't the case since the FF wheel won't work if there's anything connected to the gameport even if it isn't installed in Gaming Options/Control Panel).
I wouldn't bother with this except that, when it works, the FF wheel actually works better in POD in terms of control/responsiveness and feedback than it has in any of dozens of other games I've tried it in.
Anyone got any ideas?
