I have several Terratec EWS88MT audio drive breakout boxes that need DB44 serial adapters.
I could not find any adapters online so I will have to make some.

It uses a DB44 male serial adapter with PCB board that connects to a 44-pin IDE cable.

I could not find this adapter online so what do you think about this adapter mod ?

I would like to use this adapter mod kit with some wires to connect the DB44 to an IDE cable
There are only 40 connections that need to be made with 40 wires going from the adapter to IDE cable.
It's not pretty but should work.
Can you think of a better way to build this adapter ?

IDE cable adapter for connecting wires.

What about using a DB44 cable and just route it back into the case from the external DB44 connection?

Or if you really want it all internal, you could just use a DB44 cable and then cut the one end off and put the needed wires in the correct place on an IDE cable end. I think that would look cleaner than the other way.

Actually, I took a closer look at the original adapter.
There are many trace connections on the PCB board to be made from DB44 to IDE.

I need to know the pin-outs for this original adapter.

Thanks, I'll try it and post the pin-out when I figure it out.

Okay, I took a multi-meter to the original adapter and here is the pin-out correlation from IDE ribbon to DB44 adapter.
Some of the pins have duplicate connections because the traces merge on the PCB and a few go to the same pins.
Just connect what you can and don't worry if you run out of pin connections.

Hope this helps someone who is in need of an adapter.

Can anyone help me create a PCB for this adapter ?
I have the pin-out correlation listed above.
I am trying to create a clone of the original Terratec adapter which is hard to find and can not be purchased any longer.

I created an account with easyeda.com and started the project. But I don't know how to use this application to get it to work.
https://easyeda.com
Basically, I created the schematic and added the connectors. I then tried to convert to PCB but I get an error that the connectors are not found ?
I put the project in public domain named "Terratec EWS-88MT adapter".

So I am trying to convert the schematic to PCB so I can complete the traces layout and complete this project.

Board layout = 5mm H x 6.5mm W
Connectors = "Db44 D-sub male" and "44 pin header connector".
