This was on sale for 4.99 so I jumped on it but it's only for Win7 on up. Has anyone seen anything on getting it to work with XP 32bit at all? Currently waiting on GOG support to come up with something but thought some of you "wizards" out there might have a trick up yer sleeve.

For the record works fine with my Win10 work pc so it's probably a 64bit issue.

From reading these, seems I need to check if I have MS Visual C++ 2008 on the system. Doubt it since it's the SP2 version of XP.

Ok just for the record, GOG has been working with me trying to get this game running but to no avail. This version of the game is 64 bit only so Win7 and on up need only to apply.

What is the error you are getting?
XP,2003,Vista support 64bit.

If it's a 64bit binary and needs Visual C++ 2008 redist then use the x64 redist.

If the game is currently 64bit only then in the past it was 32bit. I don't have it so I can't check.

I just checked my game. It's definitely 32 bit. I only got the Steam version but I see no reason why it would be 64bit on GOG.

However they upgraded the game to the Turok 2 engine recently, which renders in DirectX 11 by default. Did you already try switching to Opengl?

The error is "not a valid 32 bit application". Installed Visual C++ 2008 but pretty sure it was the 32 bit version. Wouldn't installing the 64 bit version mess stuff up elsewhere?

GOG tried getting it to run on their XP test machines but it was no go. No biggie, I can play it on my computer at work no problem.

I tried the Steam version in a XP VM and got the same error. (BTW as it turns out the game is DRM free.)

However after downloading an older depot from Steam using DosFreak's guide the game seems to work fine on XP, albeit a bit on the sluggish side but that might be due to the VM.

So you might want to ask GOG support if there is a way to downgrade the game to a previous version.

I already have the original ver so that's why I didn't buy it to verify although I was tempted, so thanks!

Can you post which depot that was?

Thinking about adding that type of info to a central post.

These were the command I used:

download_depot 405820 405821 3630272021912914252
download_depot 405820 405822 4192801109945849138

Adding both file sets to the most recent game version was needed to make the game compatible with XP.

Already bought the GOG version, in retro-spec I guess should've went with Steam.

Probably just going to wait & keep looking on Ebay or flea markets for a copy.

You can download older versions of a game using the GOG Galaxy client. Galaxy is Windows 7+ only but you should be able to just copy the game directory to your XP PC.
