I've been playing around with a Gateway Essentials 500 desktop PC for a little while now, turning it into a retro gaming PC for some light nostalgia trips. It has an Intel Warm Springs WS440BX motherboard in it and when I received it I noticed that it didn't have the most recent BIOS installed. After checking vogonsdrivers, Gateway support, and Intel support, I couldn't find exactly what I needed. Further digging through Google DID reward me with what I think is the final BIOS version for the WS440BX, being 4W4SB0X0.15A.0019.P14.0005091032.

I flashed it to the board without problems and everything is working great.

I'd like to offer this BIOS update for posting on vogonsdrivers in case anyone needs them in the future. The files included needed to be put on a floppy disk and loaded from DOS, as the disk wasn't bootable and it wouldn't open from Windows. Link below:

Thanks!

Anyone has the CD included with Sound Blaster 16 Pro CT2950 (ISA)?

The files in the CD should have dates around late 1995 or begging of 1996.

I have an SB16 Value CD dated therearounds I will check nezt time I go to the storage.

I don't see 7-zip 9.20 (last Win9x compatible version) listed in the Utilities section. Should it be there? I notice WinRAR is there. Perhaps there are copyright issues? I always install it on my 9x computers, and it seems to work with everything; even the context menu works and is immeasurably useful in my daily 9x usage.

9.20 was the last stable version of 7zip with support for Win9x. Last supported beta was 9.22.
I prefer the 9.20 version because the options window fits in 640x480 resolution.

Yes, I do. I hadn't noticed that before! I don't really use the file manager much; I tend to work in Explorer then just use the context menu to perform zip and unzip operations.

Hello!

I registered because I wanted to download the WLAN driver at
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1027&menustate=0
This link is from a Google search for "Ralink_RT61_Wifi.rar",
but the page has no relevant information.

The WLAN driver is linked externally on the page
https://cloakedthargoid.wordpress.com/win9x-wpa2/
as
http://vogonsdrivers.com/files/Ralink_RT61_Wifi.rar
But I suppose the direct link cannot work.
Can you help? Thanks!

Interesting. Apparently the old file was removed (maybe someone reorganized the drivers archive?). I've updated the link at https://cloakedthargoid.wordpress.com/win9x-wpa2 to point to the file you suggested, since it's the only RT61 driver I can currently find on VOGONS drivers.

If you only need the Win98 driver, you can try one of the other drivers on my page linked above.

I think it was packed with some newer RAR version; Total Commander can't even recognize the format.

I managed to unpack the rar archive on another computer,
using the latest 7-Zip utility. The archive contains a
Ralink software installer version 1.0.7.0 dated mmddyy =
120908 for Windows, which however does not instal
something working with my WLAN card under Windows 98 SE.
But read my notes on

Installing WPA2-encryted WLAN on Windows 98 SE:

- Be in for a surprise if you happen onto an older model
of the Edimax EW-7128g PCI WLAN card. The second-hand
EW-7128g that I purchased features the Ralink RT2560
(not RT2561) MAC/BPP chip. Except maybe for link speed,
this did not turn out to be a serious problem, however.

- The first and second software links given by Cloaked
Thargoid in:
https://cloakedthargoid.wordpress.com/win9x-wpa2/
point to the Ralink software installers:
IS_AP_STA_6x_D-1.2.0.0_2500_D-3.2.0.0_RU-1.2.8.0_AU_1.1.5.0_122106_0.0.7.0.exe
which appears under an alias here, and:
IS_AP_STA_6x_D-1.2.3.0_VA-2.1.0.0_2500_D-3.2.0.0_VA-3.2.0.0_RU-2.0.4.0_VA-2.0.4.0_AU-1.2.1.0_VA-1.0.4.0_101707_0.1.0.29.exe
Both work for the RT2560 on my card under Windows 98 SE,
as does:
IS_AP_STA_2500_D-3.2.0.10_VA-3.2.0.0_RU-2.1.3.0_VA-2.1.3.0_AU-2.0.3.0_VA-2.0.3.0_021209_1.0.1.0_Free.exe,
to be found at:
https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_pa … 23&v_code=24112
and presumably elsewhere. But the installer:
IS_AP_STA_6x_D-1.2.6.0_VA-2.1.3.0_RU-2.2.0.0_VA-2.2.5.0_AU-2.1.0.0_VA-2.1.0.0_120908_1.0.7.0_Free.exe,
from the rar archive at the third software link simply
fails to work with my WLAN card under Windows 98 SE.
Dates in the Ralink file names are mmddyy.

- The registry hack works as described by Cloaked
Thargoid. A splendidly useful piece of reverse
engineering! It allows a Windows-98 computer to connect
automatically on start-up without requiring one to enter
the WPA2 Preshared Key each time. For each of the three
software versions (mmddyy = 122106, 101707, and 021209)
that work with my WLAN card, RaConfig can be hacked
successfully in the same way. It is therefore unlikely
that some other version by Ralink could handle WPA2
profiles without the hack.

- The three working versions of RaConfig are reported as
1.2.8.0, 1.3.5.0, and 1.3.6.0. The last number agrees
with that mentioned by Cloaked Thargoid while the
accompanying driver version 3.2.0.10 does not. In fact,
his version number 1.2.3.0 looks implausible as the
other two driver versions are reported to be 3.2.0.0
both.

- Background information on the Ralink WLAN hardware is
found at:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/ma … l.4freebsd.html>
and on the software (up to mmddyy = 101707) at:
ftp://soporte.uson.mx/DRIVERS/PC_LANIX/Lanix% … _STA_102207.pdf
Some other WLAN cards featuring the Ralink RT2561 MAC/BPP
are Linksys/Cisco WMP54G and Sedna se-wl-pci-03-11g; the
feasibility of WPA2 encryption under Windows 98 with the
former card was already mentioned in the forum thread:
Wifi support in Windows 98 using Linksys WMP54G

My heartfelt thanks go to Cloaked Thargoid!

Aztech Waverider Pro 32 - 3D: DOS/W3.1/W95 floppy disks v1.4.0. Belonds in the "WR32PNP" directory in the huge Aztech collection archive on vogonsdrivers, i.e. http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=788. Versions 1.00 and 2.00 are already in there.

I've uploaded most of the stuff shared since my previous post.

I'm having trouble with mega.co.nz at the moment, so I'll try uploading Schule04's files from another computer later on.

Going to work out something WRT that big 2+ GB file. It's captured on archive.org for now though, which is good.

Just to help with systems with windows 2000 to 7 http://driverpacks.net (you'll not need to search for a driver again)
For many windows driver floppies and cdroms can be useful for win NT and 3.x https://archive.org/ <----lots of old games, apps and OS too
Drivers, bios all kinds of goodies here grab grab grab! https://soggi.org/
This will get you bios that support larger disks than your system can handle if your looking: https://www.wimsbios.com/

There are many more but the above mentioned have stood the test of time. Enjoy ~B)
