You'll get a nice boost if you set the registers to optimal. No BIOSes optimise the performance registers on the cx5x86.

you could do similar trick at many cpus (k6, ppro, 6x, etc), but practically just a few people used it in the past. this is the reason, i test with default settings and timings (it is also slower). maybe later i will add it for the overclocked section.

Check the chipset on them. The 5429 is there, the 5428 is similar.

CXT = chompter extended. Isn't this a version of the K6-2 rather than a software-based speed-up tool?
While I would include fastvid as a speed-up "trick" for graphics, I believe this trick is incomparable to the Cyrix 5x86 feature set. This is my opinion, but I do not consider re-enabling originally intended hardware features of the 5x86 as software tricks. Cyrix disabled these features to increase broad spectrum compatibility. There is one board which enabled most of these features by default, the M919 v3.4. I would not consider this capability as overclocked features.

Every util uses a special feature of the cpu, i cannot see any difference. The p3b also supported the write combining from the bios for the ppro based cpus, or at the video cards is also possible to change the lbf, timings.
It is on you, what you use, i wanted to do the most authentic way.

I have Cirrus 5434 -cards and noticed that those are blazing fast. I get 30MB/s with VGASPD.EXE benchmark. With 3DBench it gives 100. I'm running Am5x86 @150MHz (3x50MHz).
And yes, it likes 50MHz VLB-bus speed 😀
