My friend wants to use IRC (briefly, of course) on Windows 98. We tried using mIRC, but turns out that it isn't free, and requires registration. Can anyone here suggest a decent IRC client that will run on Windows 98? Thanks for any suggestions!

Chatzilla from within SeaMonkey 1.1? Haven't used it in a while, but it was always my go-to client on Win9x. It's also possible to add the plugin to Firefox 1.x/2.x.

Try Pirch98: https://www.malavida.com/en/soft/pirch/#gref

There's also Vortec IRC: https://download.cnet.com/Vortec-IRC/3000-215 … 4-10971658.html
