Benchmark results with the CPU running at 1495 mhz:

3dmark2001SE (1024x768 - default settings)
2242 - Kyro II 64MB
4091 - Geforce FX5200 128MB
5225 - Geforce 6200 256MB

3dmark2000 (1024x768 - default settings)
4450 - Kyro II 64MB
6011 - Geforce FX5200 128MB
6621 - Geforce 6200 256MB

Quake 3 (1024x768x16 - highest quality, trilinear filtering)
96.0 fps - Geforce FX5200 128MB
88.6 fps - Geforce 6200 256MB

The Kyro II refused to run Quake 3, I have no idea why I'm sure I used to play that game all the time on that card. It's fan is making a horrible screech these days so I quickly pulled it out after running the 3dmark programs.

I also tossed in a 32MB Matrox G450 and it refused to run anything. 😕

In the end I'm back to using the Geforce 6200 PCI card. The FX5200 is probably a bit quicker in actual games but the 6200 seems to have better 2d image quality on my old Lenovo LCD. There's some weird ghosting on the edges of some stuff with the FX5200. Also the heatsink on the FX5200 gets ridiculously hot.

EDIT - I also ended up switching out the black drive for the white one.

Maybe I'm weird but today I ordered an FX5700 LE 256mb card on ebay. Hopefully it shows up soon.

The FX5700 has yet to show up, however I did pick up a Geforce 3 TI500 locally today.

I missed that generation of cards when they were new, so it should be interesting to see how it does compared to the other cards I have that work with this machine.

EDIT - The TI500 has 64mb of memory and beats the other cards I have in 3dMark 2000 and 2001.

The TI500 came in an old Dell Pentium 4 desktop that I bought today for $50. I might buy a 3.06ghz P4 off Ebay and have myself a decent P4 machine too. I always wanted one of those HT P4's when they were new.

"Fun" fact, the ATI radeon 9xxx series coolers might fit that FX so well you will keep sorting it with ATI cards until you wise up and put a sticker on it saying what it is =)
Mine identifies as an FX5700v, whatever that means, the Techpowerup DB has nothing on that.
It's a great card tho, and quiet with the ATI HSF.

And I'm sure the ATI cooler is superior in every single way compared to the junk HSF's they put on theese cards from new =)
Got a bunch of them from my hunt for a working 9800PRO, man those cards seems to be rare nowadays.

And I swear, more then once have I installed it and then tried to install ATI drivers 🤣.

Awesome. I went through my various "Box O' Junk™" boxes and didn't find one. I'm sure I had a few, having owned a 9700 and 9800 Pro that I put Zalman coolers on over the years.

Ah well, I think I might buy another gigantic fanless Zalman on ebay or maybe one of those dirt cheap vga coolers from China just to see what I get. The fan on the FX5700 is noisy as hell.

The FX5700LE arrived today and I ran the same benchmarks I usually do to get these numbers:

FX5700LE:
Quake 3 - 106.5fps

3dMark2001SE - 6702

GF3TI500 64MB:

If that fan is noisy you can get brand new ones:

Still, its a decent card with low powerdraw.

I might get one of those just to have on hand. Last night I ordered a Zalman ZM80C-HP to use with the card though.

Great system. You don't see enough CUB-X setups as most of the attention is on the P3B-F. It's a better board than the P3B-F; much better / faster CPU options for example (as you've shown). I think there even 2 ISA versions floating about.

That said, I think you want to really be using the ISA to prefer it over the CUSL-2 or TUSL-2.

Ah, and lastly, I love the ti500. Great touch.

The CUBX has been temporarily retired though, it decided to stop posting consistently last week and I tried different RAM, video cards, power supplies, etc and no luck. Pulled the CPU and it works fine in a micro-atx via chipset board I have that officially supports Tualatin processors so it's probably not the issue. I'm thinking about picking up a TUV4X board on ebay and replacing it with that. Right now though I'm sidetracked with a 3.06ghz Northwood P4 and P4C-800E Deluxe that I just put together.

Try explicitly setting 60hz refresh rates on the FX5200. LCD monitors can often lock on better and cards produce a sharper output at 60hz vs the default optimal setting.

Good advice, however I had already done that with no noticeable improvement (at least to my eyes).

All that said the CUBX has been retired for now and I've been using a Pentium 4 with a Geforce 3 TI500 as my main old games machine lately.
