So is this list for 'any game that had at least one redbook audio track on the disc' or 'games that actually played redbook audio tracks for in game music'?

Colonization

That was only the (comparatively rare) Windows version. The DOS version just used FM or MIDI.

King's Quest 6 - Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow (not used for Sound Blaster 16)

This was only used in the final credits. (That awful 'girl in the tower' song).

Rise of the Triad

I don't think this is correct, I had a CD copy of this and there were no redbook audio tracks on it - all in game music was MIDI or FM. I believe there was a number of different releases of this game so I suspect there may have been a version with some promo audio track on it.

Return to Zork

Interestingly (or not?) this game used a mix of both synthesized tracks (MIDI or FM) and redbook audio. There was about 20 redbook audio tracks on the CD and you could play them on the radio in the Inn of Isenough hotel room. Certain screens had redbook audio music, and certain screens only had synthesized music.

Sam 'n Max

This included 4 redbook audio versions of some songs used in the game but they were not actually played in game, instead only synthesized versions were used.

Using Hexen as a reference, it may be for a version that had the Sound Canvas soundtrack recorded and added as Redbook audio. That's how my copy of Hexen did it, I can choose Redbook as an explicit audio option, but it sounds pretty much exactly like my SC-55.

4-in-1 build (thanks Phil!): AMD K6-III+ 450 / SOYO 5EMA+ / 128MB SDRAM / 80GB Seagate HDD / Voodoo 3 3000 / Orchid Righteous 3D / Sound Blaster CT2960 / MPU-401 PCMIDI Clone / HxC Floppy Emulator / 15" CRT monitor

So? Did the thread said only DOS games allowed?

Tempest 2000 has been mentioned. It has notable music which was also given a separate release:

https://www.discogs.com/Various-Tempest-2000- … release/1438185

(I see this includes an additional track, Glide Control, which is not on the game CD)

Is this too much voodoo?

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot that it had CDA tracks. Who remembers this ? 😁

I don't usually follow this thread. Just noticed this.

Really? Sam n Max has CD audio tracks? I always thought it only has the MIDI.

I wouldn't miss CD tracks for classic MIDI (either SC-55 or MT-32), but this is news to me.

Oh yeah, it rips as an ISO, my bad.

Mission Force : Cyberstorm.
Liberation Day (not everywhere : US release -> Yes. European release : No... Even if it's still the same game and it still tries to play it. Weird !)

You can experience these CD audio tracks by buying the games. 🙄

Not always, strangely enough. See above.
And without the music, the game is really boring.
And it's not like there wasn't space on the CD or it was a bootleg or anything.
I don't understand it.

Carmageddon II, which is really a Windows game. I got the game to work using Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell as the game CD. It played all the tracks randomly but seamed to have a preference for Lady Evil. The downside is that it requires Glide3D to use with a racing wheel - the good news is that if it worked the graphics are much better in glide3D.

Star Wars - Dark Forces

I know this is old but what version of Dark Forces do you have? Mine doesn't have CD audio and as far as I know the game never did.
