I've had this machine for a long time (8 and a half months as of this posting) but it never really occurred to me to talk about it here.
I purchased an HP Mini 311 off of eBay. It came with Windows 7 on it, so I used it for light tasks. Then I noticed the NVIDIA Ion sticker on the palmrest. Looked it up only to learn that it is in fact a 9400M! I decided to run OpenArena on it, and much to my amazement, it ran incredibly well!
After a period of not using it, I decided to put XP on it with the help of Easy2Boot. This is where things got awesome. I realized that I now had my favorite XP games, on the go, in a tiny form factor!
Specs:
Intel Atom N270 (Could be better, but does work well)
Nvidia Ion (9400M)
2 GB DDR3
11 inch LED backlit display (Excellent screen!)
160 GB hard drive
This thing is awesome. It runs all of my XP games very well, while staying small and very cute. The built in speakers are among the best I've heard in a laptop, and the screen is very nice. It is indeed my primary mobile XP gaming battlestation, and with its incredibly small size, I don't see that changing anytime soon. I absolutely love it!
The CPU could be better of course, but it's certainly enough to get the job done. Windows XP is quite snappy.
It's incredibly charming to have the entire eXPerience (yes) in such a tiny form factor. I highly recommend you go out and get one. They're not perfect, some OA maps lag with flares and bloom turned on and the CPU could be a bit better, but that's all forgivable seeing how tiny it is. What is your portable XP battlestation?
P.S. I don't have Ethernet on this thing. It has the nForce 730i chipset. Does anyone know where to get XP drivers for this?
