I recently got this thing for use with some of my older computers (and computers that still have an RS232 connector) however I have been finding it rather difficult to find drivers for under pretty much all operating systems that I have looked at (Windows 95 -> Windows 10 - yes my brand new ROG motherboard (B450-f) has an RS232 header on the motherboard, and yes I have got the appropriate breakaway cable for it) I was mainly going to use this with my windows 98 laptop, as it only has one PS/2 Connector and the keyboard is broken (Compaq Presario 1234) so I have to use an external keyboard, and the touch pad isn't that great so I decided to get a serial mouse for it.

If you happen to know where to find the driver for this mouse it would be much appreciated, Thanks!

You don't need drivers for a Serial - PS/2 mouse on any Windows version as they are built-in, especially in the case of a Microsoft branded mouse which is as standard as it gets.

If you intend to use it on DOS you WILL need a driver, but either the standard MS Mouse driver or CuteMouse will work.

Okay I will have a try with CuteMouse.
However I attempted to use it under windows 98, but it clearly did not like that and straight up refused to even work, however as you said, I did try it under windows 10 ant it worked straight away... although it is the older OS's that I would like to use it it... it's funny that windows 10 still supports it!

Is the Synaptics driver for the touchpad installed, or is it running with generic PS/2 driver? If running with generic driver, windows might not detect the serial mouse without manually running "Add new hardware" from control panel. IIRC Synaptics drivers takes automatically account of external pointing devices. Also check from bios setup that the serial port is actually enabled.

Some laptops have extremely weak serial port driving circuitry and actually might not provide enough current for the mouse to work, although I doubt that.

Ok, so after a bit of thinking I plugged the mouse back into my winodws 98 laptop, un-installed the driver I accidentally installed beforehand and anything to do with the mouse, restarted the machine thinking that it would not work only to have it work perfectly!

Thanks for helping guys, I appreciated all the help I got, I can now use my mouse with all of my computers. 😀
