I have two Cirrus Logic CL-GD5446BV HC-V 1Mb (expanded) PCI cards (one with 60ns rams and other with 70ns rams), both looking fine, both have this same vertical lines problem when using lower resolutions, 256 color mode in Windows ME (I also tested them in my Windows 98 PC without drivers) and in DOS games? When I changed to High Color 16 bit or True Color 24 bit modes in my Windows ME PC, they worked fine? Windows games and DOS games with SVGA resolutions support (like DN3D, 800x600) worked. Monitors were Benq 21,5-24" models G2222HDL and BL2400PU (I changed to 4:3 aspect ratio, no affect). Should I try with CRT monitor or with some other drivers? Any suggestion how to fix this? It has been 10 years since I last time used these cards and do not remeber this issue?

P.S. Windows ME automaticly installed drivers: CIRRUSMM.DRV 4.10.1650 and CIRRUS.VXD 4.10.1633

Here is some example pics: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iAcnsZdgFFo … ijiW3j-7f3aEhnu

P.S.2 Anyone who has this model series card have you faced this problem? I also have DOS 5.0 PC with Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428 (integrated ISA card) no problems.

Vertical lines on which resolutions? Lines usually appear on cheap ISA/VLB video cards paired with LCD monitor when anamorphic resolution is used: 320x200, 640x400 and everything in-between. But 320x240 should be fine though.

It's not the capacitors this is a known issue with the DACs or the output stage of many older VGAs combined with LCD screens. It can depend on resolution/refresh used or it could be present all the time.
There is no solution yet other than replace the VGA card with another that does not exhibit this behavior.

Thx everyone for the quick advices. I will try with other monitor settings and with CRT. I let know how it went. By the way I read while a ago about some UniVBE / VESA drivers, would they solve this?

no it's not a driver issue at all. it's a resolution/refresh/output-stage combo issue.

S3 cards are more LCD friendly than Cirrus cards, both my GD5446 2mb cards and a GD5434 1mb have that same jailbar issue. My S3 Vision864 VLB, Trio32 PCI, Trio64, Trio64v+, and Virge DX don't have that issue.
