I have been using dosbox to emulate scorched earth but it goes too fast or too slow, I am on 1125 cycles but it is a bit too slow, what will the ideal clock speed for this be?

There isn't a single answer, because it depends on the speed and type of the host CPU.
These settings work fine for me on a QX9650:
core=auto
cputype=auto
cycles=max

i am using a Pentium silver (lenovo idea-pad 330), i tried those settings and while it sped up i found it was still too fast, i chose to look it up and found there was a firing delay that slowed down the game nicely.
