What IRC clients do you use on your pre 2000 era systems? Why IRC? I'ts a good way to communicate across the globe in real time with other interested in old computer systems and more. IRC has been around for decades preceeded things like Facebook, Discord etc. I use PIRCH16 on my Dos/Win3.x systems(PIRCH32 is available for Win8x), X-Chat on old linux setups, ircjr when ever I get the Dos bug and EZ-IRC on my OS/2 boxe.. Include pics showing poof of operation 😀
X-Chat on my P166MMX testing rig. Using IRC you can exchange file and have private chats as well. The the best thing about IRC it is fast and multi-platform(ie used on Sparc, x86, Amigas, Acorns, Apples etc).

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉
