Acquired a Dell Optiplex G1 recently. This is how it was before the conversion.
Completely proprietary layout.
Super dirty too.
Cleaned it up and guttted it. All the original components are going to a friend who likes older hardware. Pentium II era Slot 1 Celeron 333MHz.
Lots of hammering and grinding involved.
The rear... not terribly clean but it won't need to be. You'll see later.
Even kept the original power supply swivel mechanism but had to cut into it a bit.
Demonstration of the swivel
And here's the front after the cleanup
Top looks much better.
Side
Rear... this was cut up from an old eMachines Pentium 4 tower that was in crummy condition on the exterior. It was bolted into the original chassis. The hardware is as follows:
Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 motherboard
Antec EA-380 80+ 380W power supply
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz dual core processor
8GB DDR2 RAM (4x2GB)
XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512MB PCIe video card
DVDRW drive with white faceplate
3.5" floppy drive
128GB SanDisk X110 SSD
640GB Western Digital 7200RPM HD
Front view with the cover removed

The original Optiplex drive cage was interfering with the motherboard. Let's go with the eMachines drive cage.
Can hold 2 drives in there.
One of those fancy high end RTX GPUs
