- ram: 512 MB
- video board: GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (Driver ver. 8.1.9.5)
- sound board: Realtek AC'97 (Driver ver. 5.10.0.5740)
- os: WinXp (ServicePack 2)
- game: Gobliins 2 (ver. 1.01, CD-version)
- problem: on startup after the wizard's prologue, the start screen showing the imprisoned goblin appears without any problems. after pressing any key to switch to the game, the screen fades out into black and remains black. there is no more cpu work or cd drive activity.
- reproducibility: everytime trying to start the game
- sound mode: (don't know the required - check conf-file attached to post
- video mode: surface (don't know, if this is the required information - otherwise check conf-file attached to post)
- emulator: DosBox ver. 0.63
- taken measures: i followed the hints on the DosBox Website, which are the following:
the cpu cycles are set on 3000 by default.note from MAN-biker: There is a problems with synchronization of AudioCD sound and intro movie. - set "CPU cycles"=60000 (in DOSBox config file for this game); - start game; - when goblin's King JUST START TO SPEAK (SOUND), holding "Ctrl" button, press VERY FAST "F11" button 15 times (to decrease "CPU cycles" from 60000 to 3000). WARNING! 1. In DOSBox config you must mount CD-ROM drive with "-ioctl" option; 2. DON'T use official patch update, because you should get (in DOSBox) better synchronization during intro (but still NOT perfect), but you'll get minor shit too - fucking delays every second while playing game.
following these hints already was not successful.
