Hello,

I had some stability issues (that I since managed to diagnose using the AIDA64 stress testing) on my Azza PT-5VMD + K6-2 combo, caused by incompatible RAM modules.
However, initially I wanted to use good old memtest86.. so I tried various older versions of memtest86 / memtest86+ and they all freeze right at startup, before any testing begins.
I remember that during that time, I was using older versions of memtest, like 2.0, 2.4, 2.5, but I couldn't find them anywhere. Does anybody have one of these older versions?
Thanks!

No, ran memtest86 from DOS (without Emm386).

Well then, I'll try to make a image of diskette and convert it to ISO but after 10 hours because now it’s time to sleep...

memtest 86+ 4.10 works on everything as far back as a 386

If you really need older versions, the official Memtest86+ site has versions all the way back to v2.00 at http://www.memtest.org/.

I already tested the versions from memtest.org, but even v2.00 is quite new, from 2008 and it didn't work. I'm talking about v2.xx from the original memtest86 (the ones with no "+"). Those are from 1999 / 2000.

I tried it and in my case it freezes at startup... (even though the system is now 100% stable, it can withstand 8 hours of AIDA64 CPU/memory stress tests). I remember having this problem in the past too. Some motherboard/RAM combos have issues with newer memtest86 versions.

Thanks, @lost77! I guess I'll need to buy a FDD... or a Floppy emulator 😀

You should just be able to turn it into a boot CD using most kinds of burn software.

Yes, I'll probably use a modified Hiren's BootCD in the end.
