The high-res mode is restricted to editor only in the full game, as it obviously affects gameplay by making a greater portion of the level visible to the player.

There is a patch that allows high resolutions in full game:

I uploaded community made Abuse game called fRaBs to ModDB. The original version is still available for download on archive.org and some other sites, but here I included the files from the 2016 SDL port, so it can be played through that version in higher resolution and stuff. The game starts in a "hub" area and you can enter teleporters that start different campaigns. I only played through first two areas, so I don't know if everything else will work properly.

I also uploaded the original music converted to MIDI and textures converted to PNG. Those were available on my blog for 4 years already, I don't know why I never uploaded them to ModDB. People will find them on ModDB sooner than on my blog.

Also I wonder if anyone here has the old user made mods and maps ?

A while ago I did some Wayback Machine digging but only came up with this site:
http://games.3dreview.com/abuse/index.html

This one has working downloads, including some of the user maps made for the 0.33 shareware release (which had a note that basically encouraged user mapping) that were mentioned in an early FAQ.

IIRC there was a site from the fRaBs era (possibly listed here) that had more maps but none of them were preserved by the Wayback Machine.

Yes, I also found the first site years ago and posted a link to it on my Abuse SDL GitHub page. I was also digging through Wayback Machine few weeks ago and found that on abuse2.com you can find working downloads by going on the profile page of the users:

I have not played those yet, but my guess is that anything that was worth saving probably ended up in FRABS. There are 32 single-player levels there.

Hey, that's an awesome find! Yes, I believe this is the site I referred to earlier, I just did not do enough digging to discover the files' working locations. Thanks!

I had a similar idea but did not check it 😀

I just checked the archived contents of www.cdrom.com Abuse section. Most files have not been preserved, but the box art section suggests there was a lossless copy of the box art available, very likely in high resolution. Anyone ever come across these files?

Which model did you use?

Manga109Attempt, I haven't experimented with others on this example.

I actually thought I had those images you were looking for 2 months ago, went through my backup disk, but couldn't find anything then. Then yesterday I stumbled upon this in my ESRGAN folder and it turned out it was actually this one that I remembered.

Well it did an okay result with this particular image but keep in mind it's basically the first model created and it's fairly old by today's standards.

You could first try running the art through JPEG artifact removal models, since it is a JPEG image (I'd recommend Alsa's models out of the selection). Then try something like DigiPaint or DeviantPixelHD, they tend to produce better results.

Here's an interesting result (I had to crop the image because I can't do large ones really) I got with a model called (tee hee) 4x_FArtDIV3_Blend:

I can't either, for those I use "Image Enhancing Utility". It splits images in several smaller ones and then connects the results. This way you don't run out of memory when trying to upscale larger images. I set maximum size to 256x256 and tile overlap to 16.

Does Anyone know what that last weapon is? It seems like most of the releases have the Seven Weapons, but early builds have Eight weapon slots and the art files include a Green Shoulder Mounted weapon. Does anyone know what this was, how it worked or if there is any way to access it in game?
