With my socket 3 set up dying and until I can find a suitable replacement, I will probably give 86box a try. My target system will be a 486DX2/66Mhz with an AWE32, and hopefully use my Roland MT-32. I'll probably shoot for a P-90 Win9x set up for some other games.
Is there anything I should know? What are the lowest system requirements for 486 to Pentium pcs? I've been having difficulty finding 86box forums.
I reads that there are things that it can't do due to a lack of understanding of AWE32 functions. What functions are those?
Can I use my Roland usb midi cable to play MT-32 music in Dos/Win 3.x games like I can with DOSBox?
Can I use a gameport-usb adapter and have 86box recognize old gamepads and joysticks? I will have CH flightick/throttle/rudder pedals arriving in a few days.
Is there anything else I should know in order to have the best experience? I'm stressed and depressed over the loss of my socket 3 system and am hoping to recreate it has much as possible until I can buy new hardware (I spent 2 days setting up CF cards with apps and games from 1989-1995 before discovering that my 486 box was dead.) I was in a motorcycle wreck and this have limited funds and so far, my ebay searches have been less than fruitful.
