So you have older Dos, within newer its just text file.. In that case there tutorial:
https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?t=815473
Or you can simply press i thing is F5/F7 during boot to bypass config or autoexec.

Im old goal oriented goatman, i care about facts and freedom, not about egos+prejudices. Hoarding=sickness. If you want respect, gain it by your behavior. I hate stupid SW limits, SW=virtual world, everything should be possible if you have enough raw HW.

I actually got it to run by using MEMMAKER to free up enough conventional memory, which is good.

Gave me some important information I needed like my chipset (i420EX) and what model of video card I have.

Bump. Anyone else willing to contribute by testing the latest version and providing results?
Any reports are welcome!

I'd be happy to, as I recall 5.5.5 wouldn't let me view the IRQs and DMAs on my AMD K6-II machine.

Is the program meant to be run from a floppy or copied to the hard disk?

Thanks. It should not matter whether you run it from a floppy or disk, the package size fits well onto a floppy.

Well when I run it normally, it cautions that it may hang using EMM386, and does when looking at IRQ/DMA assignments. (That was probably the problem with 5.5.5)

So I disabled EMM386, and it complains about running out of memory, or displays "Fatal error, cannot continue" when trying to create a report.

Seems to do okay when autoexec.bat and config.sys are stripped to the essentials though. I only noticed one error reported: The AMD K6 CPU bug.

THANK YOU!!!

Thanks! Looks quite good to me, I found just a few minor bugs that I'm going to fix now.
I'm still working on optimizing the code to reduce memory footprint.

Well if bugfixing is done, you add some new features 😀 I dont want to sound ungratefully, but Navratil System info provide much more info and its running fine even with memory managers 😀

Give me some examples of useful and truly retrieved information by NSSI. A lot of the content is just bloat that's not really useful.
HWiNFO can run under memory managers, but some functions are not available in this mode. This is because some of the queries go very deep into the hardware, which is not allowed under V86.
Oh, and BTW.. if you look at NSSI, you'll surely notice how many ideas has this guy copied from HWiNFO. Does the GUI/layout appear a bit similar? That's not a coincidence and I can tell you for sure, that HWiNFO had this way before NSSI did. He copied even some not-quite-correct expressions 😁

It would take some time to do side by side comparison - i dont have eidetic memory , optically NSSI looks to provide much more info (ok maybe it could be just feeling..), better navigation for sure.. as user i dont really care what mechanism is used for HW info detection, but i like that it works in any memory mode and doesn't complain about it.
NSSI claims first public version was available in 1997, i never checked how old HWinfo is, its older?

the latest 603 from front page suddenly gets my motherboard wrong (it was previously correct). its now a 'FIC AZ31' when it should be 'FIC PA-2013'.

from mainboard -> bios -> plug n play, still doing the 2 CSN's but can only see 1 and wont show the second csn. If I select it, machine locks up.

under perhiperals, it shows my soundcard as Gravis, when i select it, it says DSP 0.0, copyright blank, IO Port: D (the letter D)...

if I select IRQ, machine all locks up. (previous versions didnt lock up).
if I select DMA, same. machine hard locks.

for me, this version is way worse than previous versions.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm checking this now and will provide a new test build soon. This is not easy to diagnose and fix remotely...
I have already found and fixed the mainboard name and sound card listing bugs, but PnP is tricky.. Does it mean CSN 1 (GUS) is properly listed and you can get all info about it, but for the 2nd one it shows "CSN 2:" with empty name, which when you select the system locks up?

no, it wont CSN2 anything.

2 csn, 13 nodes.

no node info

1 csn, locks up.
https://i.imgur.com/6ODqno6h.jpg

even under old version, it would print csn with detail and not show csn 2.
(you can see in my logs I zipped a few pages back).

Thanks. I think I have fixed all the new issues you've seen and uploaded the new build into the first post.
I'm still not sure about the PnP device enumeration, it might be an issue of card isolation protocol timing when multiple PnP cards are in system. Unfortunately I can't test this myself yet as my system (Dual-P5) isn't PnP-capable. Will need to get such system (some PnP cards already on the way), but that will take a lot of time...
Can you please test again with the new build?

PnP Nodes print ok. Motherboard is correct again. still locks up printing CSN 1.

So it shows only CSN1 and after that locks up same as before?
What about the Peripherals screen?

I have created a special version that will show the status while it's enumerating PnP cards.
Attaching only the EXE, can you please run this and tell me what it shows when it hangs:

It no longer hangs but still only prints the 1st CSN.
pnp nodes show correct still.

still says 2 csn.

Perhiperals shows Gus as my sound card but I cant select it to see any detailed information.
