I'm starting a collection of old dutch pc warez-scene demo's 1985-1995.
That part seems to be disappearing into the memory hole which is a shame.

I have had fond memories of looking at those loaders from

  • Future Brain Incorporated
  • Unit 173 Crew
  • World of Wonders

Now I know that Bitfreak/FBINC released an oldies collection, that has a good majority of those. But its un-findable. I have stripped about 5 of them from warez I found online. If you guys can help me out ?

Old times, when life was simple and you we're still a kid 😁

Almost forgot, if anyone has any of these intro's, just send me the executable. I'll extract the demo myself. Added another gif. Are these the only ones ? I searched a lot the past few days. But maybe I'm not using the right acronyms. So if you know of any dutch groups that are not in this list, tell me. Because the text in the demo's gets me nowhere.

Thanks.

Nice going. I guess pouet.net is a better place to ask (and you could also contribute the ones you already have, if they're not in their database already).

Thanks, but not really what I was looking for. The ones I looked at are either commercial or party demo's and such. I'm looking for dutch "cracktro's" is the term I believe (I'm learning), or dutch trainers with a demo.

held: I do not know if it could help, but maybe try to search either "Internet Archive" or perhaps textfiles.com ? It could be a possibility.

If you're still interested: I collected cracktro's about a year back, kept only the DOS variants. 1875 cracktro's / 55 MB zipped. I'm guessing it also has some Dutch ones. Unfortunately I can't recall where I got them from.

Found another one , "control software", that brought back some old memories. I discovered that they are probably the former FBINC guys. The code is the same, it just looks different. Its a later version going by the date, although it seems to do less. They added encryption, which was removed quite easily, with a note: "Keep your hands of the text , asshole !!!" 🤣 which cracked me up.

Good times

Cracktro's, and specifically Dutch.... Hmmm, other than the ones you already mentioned, none come to mind. How many Dutch groups were there anyway (on PC)?

However, non-Dutch, I do remember The Dream Team (Sweden? Not sure):

https://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=5988

Specially this one was used on quite a few games:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=56847

And then of course there was TRSI:

https://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=280&or … lease&reverse=1

This is an Amiga cracktro but I remember seeing that logo also been used on PC:

No idea, not much, THG blew all competition out of the water. They were fast and furiously active from 1990-1994, so it kinda dried up I guess. Found an intro from Red Sector/PE, but I'm not so sure on this one. I believed RSI to be German.

Pretty cool you're preserving this. I've still got dozens of these, but they're mostly just variants of the Future Brain Inc. one with different text. Probably everyone in the Netherlands at that time had some game(s) with that intro stuck to it; apparently it got to the point that someone got tired of it and made a tool:

I remember the Control Software & Unit 173 one to be quite common as well:

Probably the same one you mention (as it has the "keep your hands off..." text). I don't think they were former Future Brain guys though, as both seem to have been active already at the time FBI was still around. Here's another one:

Last but not least:

Very creative, although in my memory it took ages to load and start the actual game.
