My Cyrix MII-300GP arrived today for the sum of £11. The current PX5 BIOS I have does not seem to support the 300, however, it booted instantly claiming there was a Cyrix PR266 installed. Once in the BIOS I was able to set it up manually in the CPU Soft Menu...

I have to say, what I've tested so far - It was a very decent upgrade. All DOS SVGA games run much quicker and able to go back to full screen/high detail in most cases. Quake seems much more playable now - although I have other machines to play this flawlessly.
CPUz reveals that the processor is a match for the Pentium MMX 200 FPU wise, however, the ALU probably resembles a K6/PII?
I've had to upgrade the Socket 7 cooler for a slightly bigger one as this CPU pumps out a little more heat. The bearings are shot on this temporary one so will order another cooler. I'm looking to replace the fan with a 60mm NOC to keep the noise down.
Really pleased I kept the Cyrix path, even if I did have to upgrade! 😀
One problem I do have, if anyone can help me is Speedsys will not run. It locks up at "Read MSRs" I've tried various switches, it's only started since I upgraded to the MII.
