I bet you could use an extender for a PISA riser if you wanted to make a special case so you could have more useable ISA slots and relocate some PCI cards.

The 486 chipsets as far as I am aware support a max of 4 PCI slots. It would be fun figuring out how the PCI slots and the riser are organized so they could be labeled.

To top it off, if any onboard devices use the PCI bus then the number of available PCI slots goes down.

This Tandy Enhanced Keyboard found on local internet auction.
Beside the slightly stretched cable it looks almost like new - basically it's in perfect condition because probably it was used wrapped in it's rubber cover since it was new.
Nobody else was bidding on it. I guess people just didn't knew it's almost as good as Model M, has XT/AT mode autodetect...

Will be perfect for my 1000TL/2.

Came on an MSI 865 board with 2GB RAM. Will now have to find a suitable case for this setup.

Yeah, that's funny, the cheap ones usually have Xeon stamped on them. 😉

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I received a NOS ASUS Socket 8 to Slot 1 adapter last week. It came with a BIOS chip and a BIOS update floppy.

Also picked this up on eBay today for very little money - the screen has stopped working so might be fun to fix. (Seller's photos)

Toshiba Satellite T2150CDS 75MHz intel 486DX, CD drive Windows 95

I have a T2150CDT myself. Remove the wake battery (open the hood, remove the main battery, move the plastic anti-static piece, remove the 4-5 screws, and remove the 7.2V NiMH battery and clean the corrosion off before it's too late.

If you need the drivers and utilities, I'll send a link to all of it.

Oh. Before I forget, a floppy drive from a Satellite Pro 400 Series will work with it as well (tested myself since the original broke on me).

So it turned up today and I checked where you said and there's just a coin cell rechargeable battery with no leakage?

The machine worked fine for about 15-20 mins - I got into Windows 95, even played some games, (even the battery worked for about 10 mins!) but I had a few random crashes then tried copying over some files from a CD and it froze and now I can hardly get it to boot at all- it just hangs on a bare DOS prompt even. Sometimes I've even had this screen saying the BIOS is damaged come up on a couple of boots! (Sorry for poor quality picture).

Are these easy to take apart? Is there a heatsink on the CPU or something that might need new paste? Is there a fan that's failed even? I'm going to leave it for a bit and try again later.

Cheers,
Steve

OK it appears to be a heat problem as I am running it with no issues for 15 mins or so now even doing some benchmarks with it balanced on my air conditioning unit set to 17'C! I'll strip this laptop down then and look for a heatsink that's loose or something.

The paste is either dried out / separated or the fan is bad. Heatsink could be loose as well but that would normally only happen if somebody took it apart and didn't put it back together properly.

Bought this beautiful Resound New Wave MCA from Texelec. One thing I forgot, was that my IBM PS/2 P70 only has half lenght second microchannel slot. The card is an inch too long. About 155€ down the drain, damn it 🙁

Looks like that fan probably vents directly to the outside of the case. Why not just relocate the fan to the outside of the case?

There's a metal frame around that fan. And I'm not going to start modifying this mint condition machine.

edit: Another option would be to lose that SCSI-controller and SD-adapter, but after getting used to plentiful storage and ease of transferring files, going back to original 40MB ESDI hard drive is not tempting.

Short scsi cards are also a thing. they look like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/271232681061?epid=13 … HoAAMXQhpdR0wZR

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
