Greetings, everyone.

I was using Cheat Engine's Graphical Memory View in attempt to find unused sprites for a DOS game and I've spotted the following icons loaded in memory:

The attachment dosbox_unused_icons_maybe.png is no longer available

^This is just some of the icons and image has been vertically flipped for easier viewing, as they're loaded upside down.

These graphics are seen in memory both when emulating and not emulating a DOS game.
I wanted to double check with you all to make sure these are DOSBOX's unused icons and not from a DOS game as I couldn't find pictures of these online.

Thanks in advance,
CTJ

These are Windows icons... From USER32.DLL, IIRC.

Oh, which game were you trying to extract sprites from?

Do not read if you don't like attention seeking self-advertisements!

Did you read it anyway? Well, you can find all sorts of stuff I made using various programming languages over here:

Sorry that I've responded later than intended, but after doing some googling, it appears that you are correct. These are windows icons!

I am surprised these get loaded into memory, but thanks for clearing that up. I appreciate it!

The previous post cleared it up.
I guess I wasn't familiar with the windows icons enough at the time and found it surprising to see them in graphical memory when targeting DOSBOX.
I'm guessing that Cheat Engine searches in all memory instead of just what DOSBOX uses.

But if you're curious to which game I'm trying to extract sprites from, it's from ZombieVille 1997.

I was going to reply to your PM, but I'm not allowed to respond to PM's as I don't post much on this forum.

So I'll respond to your PM here.

The reason why I was trying to extract sprites from Zombieville is that I am interested in documenting what is unused to The Cutting Room Floor, which can be seen here: https://tcrf.net/Zombieville_(1997)
According to some public adverts, the game was rushed in development, which means that there's a lot of unused materials left in the game, such as dialogues, graphics, texts, etc.

I am able to rip and document all unused assets to the archiving site, and I know there are currently 4 unused characters. More info under this link: https://tcrf.net/Zombieville_(1997)#Unused_Characters
I do believe I know where they're located in (GDF and DAT files inside LEVEDAT folder), but I am unable to rip character sprites, as the game uses propriety compression and other trickery.

Do you know anyone that would be able to help out for this particular scenerio?

@admins: you really can reply to pm’s when not posting much?

I apologize for the confusion on the previous message but allow me to explain.
When I click on Compose message, I get a message saying that I'm not "authorized to use this feature" because I haven't posted much on these forums.
So I'm guessing that I need to post more on forums to be allowed to use the PM's.

But I'll be giving a look into the suggested forum. Thanks for giving me a tip, I appreciate it!
