Got this little thing yesterday. I have no idea if it is good or not, but my hunch is... "not".

However, I have never seen anything like this before on a sound card:

So, I guess I could actually power both my Roland MT-32 and SC-55 through this if I wanted to? 9V, negative polarity, is just what those devices need, and 2A should be more than enough.

Ouch. I'd be wary about using that power connector. I assume the LM317 is what does the regulation, from the 12V ISA line. 2A on the 12V means you'd be drawing 24W from the power supply via the ISA bus just on this card, that's a non-negligible amount. Also the regulator itself would dissipate (12-9)*2=6W itself. And it doesn't have a heat sink, it would get pretty hot.

Also on thread topic I've been scouring ebay and other sites for small parts that I need to work on my various Thinkpads. Caddies, HDD connectors, Zener diodes for a voltage mod, batteries of all kinds (lithium coin cells in unusual sizes, NiMH coin cells for a "standby" battery on the 755 series, etc). Who knew that finding a 29H9422 or a 82H5536 can be so hard. 😵 I did score a 29H9232 NIB for a reasonable price, it's a main Li-ion battery for the Thinkpad 760 but from experience I know it works on the 755 as well.

The MT-32 and SC-55 together will probably not draw more than 1A tops. But I wasn't planning to use the card at all, it was more me being curious. 😀

Well if it works it would make a decent DOS sound card.

That would be indeed a neat thing to have. What is the OS compatibility, and how much of a performance hit does it give?

No idea, will find out. Im not concerned with performance. Just being able to image some old mac scsi drives.

Picked up a set of 4x1GB matched set of DDR2-1200 that runs at 5-5-5-12

Total price with shipping: $26.64 USD

This'll be part of what I need to take my recent AM2 Crosshair board "To the next level", other part is try a 6 core chip in it some day. If I ever get there. Next goal in the next few months will be to get a 4-core Zosma core chip for it.. "Test the waters" with am3 6-core era tech and see if it'll work.. if that works then I can probably get a 6 core for it. Seeing as Zosma quads are just Thuban 6-cores with 2 cores disabled. (No this board doesn't have core-enabling technology, sadly.)

you do realize those are 2GB chips. So that would be a total of 8GB

They say 2x 1GB on them, since they were sold in pairs as 2GB.. they are 1GB sticks.

Yep they say "2GB (2 x 1GB) Kit" Which would mean that two of them are a "Kit of 2", kingston uses similarly confusing labels for their ram too. They're 1GB each.

I remember there being a thread on a card like this a while back. It could have also been in one of these big threads. I'll try and find it.

It's a Colani Tower. The manufacturer was Highscreen back in the day.

Searching for these Colani tower, the main design was looking like the following picture, i remember this design back in the day, it was amazing but out of my range (money)...

Now here's the Colani tower, i've got from ebay. The design looks similar, but also slightly different...

Inside, it's a socket 5 board from ECS, the SI54P-AIO. Very interesting...

Finally, this tower has a corrosion problem. Have to solve this when i have time...

In fact you see a lot of sellers on eBay selling 2x1gb kits as 4gb, the sad part is that many are pretty well aware of what they're selling and simply trying to scam uninformed buyers.

Are those white ISA slots? It's weird how just a color change makes them look almost alien.

ECS often did that in this period.

Do please clean that up as it is one of the more historical cases from the period and a damn good one too.

Been buying 775 sli boards after several years procrastinating after the prices creeped up a bit 😢
Asus P5N32SLI which looked clean but was doa bummer which had cost me $40 Edited bucks but it came with a e6400 and 4GB Patriot DDR2 800.
MSI P6N Diamond for a meager $10.40 shipped but has buzzing coils
EVGA 750i FTW for $46 and change (feel like I over payed on this one)

The reason is that I am in the process of doing two period correct quad sli builds but still got a ways to go. One GTX 7950 GX2 quad sli rig that is mostly period correct to 2006 give or take which is bit of a how you doing sort of system that a college student would have built back in the day. The other is a 2008/9 ish type of system with two 9800 gx2 but it won't be ready this year due to lack of funds. I do hope to build a system for my GTX 295s using a modern x99 Xeon based system.

8 4gb 800mhz 5-5-5-11 sticks of ddr2 ram. All for on system! That's not overkill or anything?
32gb of ram is uncommon for even a newer system.

But hay it was 1.98 a stick, I could not pass that up.

Don't most boards have problems with 4gb DDR2 dimms? Or is this registered RAM for one of your Xeon systems or something?
