Got this little gem:

Lost_Odyssey.jpg

Lost Odyssey is often listed as one of those "must have" games for the Xbox 360, since it remains exclusive to that system even to this day. I think you can also play it on newer Xbox consoles via back compat, but it's not available anywhere else. The game was made by the guy who created the original Final Fantasy, and it supposedly features gameplay that's very reminiscent of the earlier entries in that series. Should fit my tastes quite well. 😀

PC#1: Pentium MMX 166 / Soyo SY-5BT / S3 Trio64V+ / Voodoo1 / YMF719 / AWE64 Gold / SC-155
PC#2: AthlonXP 2100+ / ECS K7VTA3 / Voodoo3 / Audigy2 / Vortex2
PC#3: Athlon64 3400+ / Asus K8V-MX / 5900XT / Audigy2
PC#4: i5-3570K / MSI Z77A-G43 / GTX 970 / X-Fi

Been splurging as of late, some new additions for my WinXP/98 systems. Never heard of Painkiller till I saw it on one of Phil's videos.
Next targets are AVP 2, Battlefield 1942 Complete Collection, NFS Most Wanted, Prey 2006. Usually I try to get boxes with these games
but like everything else that can get expensive.

Nice haul. I've been trying to get Tiberian Sun as well, but whenever I find it it's either the German version or already sold.

Battlefield and Prey shouldn't be particularly difficult or expensive. Most Wanted for PC can cost a lot relatively. Usually as much as it was brand new or more even though it's not particularly rare. AVP2 is however a little bit on the uncommon side, but should also be on the cheaper end.

My birthday and xmas present to myself arrived today (a day before my birthday). Raised bit of smile on a day I got some bad family news. Better pics once I get some space.

Amazing haul..

This thread is making me a bit sad. I can no longer justify the prices these things cost to fill the gaps in my collection. My only condolense is that I've managed to grap nearly all hardware I want..

I spent $160 today. $150 was on a gently crushed but otherwise complete Battlespire.

I really can't complain too much, as some moisture and weight has partially straightened out the front cover already.

The other $10 was spent on a completely new yet still opened F-22 Lightning 3. I broke the sticker on the CD case myself.

It even has the keyboard overlay.

Up until a couple of months ago these were dirt cheap and very common. I don't know what happened, but they became less cheap and uncommon. Same whit Pacific Rift and Heavenly Sword. People used to throw these after people for as low as 5€, now you are lucky if you find one for 20. Still far from expensive, but a price increase by 300% over a short period fills me with concern.

I hope you can enjoy them. I've got one or two things that coincided with bad news and they just remind me of it. Probably will wear off in time.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Finally I had one that isn't Platinum Edition, has the manual and the "Welcome to Playstation Network" booklet.
MotorStorm - Also an upgrade from the Platinum Edition.
Lost Odyssey - One of the few Xbox exclusives that never came to PC. Not yet rare and I'm not really interested in JRPGs, but picked it up anyway while availability is high.
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb - This one, especially the PC version, is actually very much uncommon. I rarely see one on the domestic market.

The drakes unfortune series was awesome. At least parts 1-3 which are the ones that I finished.

Rumor has it there is even a Big Box Variant 😉

I took the middle ground and cut up all of my boxes and stored them flat with the game documentation in Ziploc bags. Jewel cases were discarded but their inserts were all retained.

Re: Big Box PC Games – Show and Tell

I never really liked big boxes all that much. They are fragile and take up a lot of space while all they have to show for it is the bigger cover art.
I prefer steelbooks and slipcovers.

CD Project also released some nice slipcover versions back in the 2000s. Some are as good as limited editions with art books and postcards.

Yes, you have a point. I also like the Morrowind slipcover version a lot. In fact, long ago I found a (very frial and poorly made) Morrowind Big Box only containing the CD but no map. So I got the slipcover version as well and put that one into the big box 😀

Today I finally got a game for my non-OSX macs. A very important one.

IMG_3095 copy.jpg

That's right, an original 1993 version of Myst for the Mac. The way it was intended to be played. Someday I'll actually bother with it.

If you enjoy Myst, try playing Spaceship Warlock. I played this on my PC, but it was one of the first CD-ROM titles for the Macintosh and was celebrated as one of the best games you could get for it at the time.

I read a very nice article about it somewhere a long time ago.

It's unclear to me which release is for the Mac, or if it was always the big box release which was for the Mac. I got mine as part of a PC bundle, as a kid. I still have all of these discs, except for "Sprectre VR"; I don't recognize that one before.
