that's your best chance if you haven't another machine where you can do the hot swap.

On the first picture this is what shows after shorting the battery. If I go into the setup, change some values, Save & Exit the pc reboots but the screen stays black. If I press F2 to load defaults, the boot process continues, only to get stuck at the second picture. I don't see any other way to get this sorted so I guess I'll have to try and reprogram the BIOS.

When you have the first screen press or keep home key pressed, when I tried on my ami board it didn't work but it's worth a try.
