OK...so we just have a misunderstanding here. I have it always minimized to tray and use the small minimize button when I have it maximized to switch through the songs...but I never had it in the taskbar since I knew this feature...and I never had it maximized in foreground or even fixed.

kind regards

I like to have tray clean, really really hate thing in tray beside volume and clock, maybe daemon tools and thats all, then i cant say anothing about this method. For me TrayFactory is a MUST in all my window install jeje

But for example, if you have winamp in background, minimize web browser, or move a windows on top, 2.9x redraw instantly, 5.x take a fraction of second, like GUI is more heavy, for me was not acceptable, thats why i downgrade

BTW some OT - Can someone confirm if v5.35 still works on Win95 or which is the last version for it if not?

Hi, @soggi,
It seems like Winamp version 5.35 is the latest with win 9x support: Re: Winamp is Dead . You can find it here or here.

P.S. I thought you were a hadrcore fan of hardcore/punk, but your Winamp playlist shows a strange mix of music.

What's the "OT" meaning? Original thread? On the thread?

Thx for your answer! I know it's the latest for Win9x (the changelog states it) and I have no doubt it runs on Win98(SE)/ME. But does it really run on Win95? That's the question, would be great if someone could test it. I have 5.35 right here and it will find its place in the tools section of my website (-> https://soggi.org/misc/tools.htm).

Oh yes, I love (hardcore) punk music, attitude and like to be on small concerts, but I also like lots of other music (genres). What you see isn't really a playlist, it's just "playing some .mp3 (mostly 80s Pop) from a directory and a couple of sub-folders". The genre isn't that important, the music(, voice[es] and lyrics) has (have) to be good.

OT means "off-topic", it's OT because the thread is about Winamp / WinXP and not Win95.

I'm not sure, but this version is given as win "9x" compatible and to me 9x always means 95/98(SE) and in most cases ME i.e. all of the latest DOS based windows versions. I can not test it myself, because I don't use win 95 even for tests from the times when 98SE saw the light.

I see. I'm not a fan of the pop(ular) music at all and that's why I'm wondering how a hardcore/punk fan could listen to pop or electronic... well, music. Probably I'm still too hardcore fan of non-popular (some people calls them "underground") genres and bands.

Thanks for clarification! Sometimes I'm also very stupid 😁

Sorry for the OT 😀

I have some experience with programs which claim to be compatible (or not), that's why I ask. So this question is still open...

This is really OT 😉 :

I like good music, there's also lot of bad hardcore/punk music where I think "Stop, go practice...or even stop at all!". The only genres I really dislike are modern German "Schlager" and folk music (sorry, I have to vomit...). I also don't hear classic music, but not since it's bad music at all - that's not for me.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers...
