Please don't get on an argument on my account! Thinkering with the cycles and freesize, I arrived at a point where the game is quite playable. It's not perfect, but that's not what I'm asking for. It still stuters a bit in the cinematics, but I can understand what is being said, and it's just noticeable in the game itself. I still need to reinstall the game most of the time, but as long as my saves are preserved, I'll deal with it. Pressing F1 throws me out of the game instead of going to the menu, for some reason, but I don't really need the menu.
I may try that config file Xelasarg provided in a few days, to see if it works better, but I'm getting tired of thinkering for the moment, so I'll put it on hold. But thanks. I'll keep it. (I'll at least study the line where C: is D:dosgames, it may be necessary to change it myself in other configs in the future.) I'm quite surprised to learn that 1200mhz is not enough to run (well) games that worked fine on my old (long dead) 90mhz! Emulating dos is incredibly demanding!
I'll try to learn what a cvs build is later too, but that's apparently complicated. (As WD suggests, I'm no computer wiz!) For now, I'll need to really assimilate what I just learned, and take good notes. I'll certainly find more games that don't work with the frontend because of hard drive size.
I want to thank you all for the kind help. There may be differences of opinions, but everyone is genuinely trying to make me enjoy Crusader. That's very nice. I'll probably need some more hints installing some other game soon, and it's great to know the people of dosbox are so interested in advising users, and that many users are helpful as well. It's extremely appreciated!
My apologies to MiniMax: By the time I had finished writing my reply, I had forgotten you had linked to the 60 seconds guide, but I realized it after sending the reply. Sorry, my texts are too long!
