Looks like you got Yamaha OPL3-SA3 (YMF715B). Quite nice catch. You neen to check BIOS for configuration or use SETYMF utility.

oh nice, how did you find that? I tried to google but couldnt see ... that means I can play most DOS games with Soundblaster sounds and and FM for music right? if yes then wooohoooo !!!!

how do I get the sound working in DOS? what software do I need?

edit: nvm, found the DOS software package with setupsa commands

received the laptop today, the floppy drive is not working, wont read any of my floppies ... how can I install DOS on it ? set it up on the HDD in another machine?

Fdisk the drive, set it as active. Then do a format /s on that drive from another system running DOS or Windows 9x.

Copy the 9x CD contents to the drive and then put it back in the laptop, let it boot and then run the Windows install.

thanks, issue is its 44pin so will need an adapter to make it connect to normal IDE cable in another PC.
